Why is my jumper/coat bobbly?

Ever noticed your lovely woollen jumpers end up with unsightly bobbles?

Does your coat have little woollen balls all over it?

Do not fear!! At Farthings Cambridge and Trumpington, we can bring your coat or jumper back to life for a very minimal cost!

We call it our DE-BOBBLING service, which you may or may not have been aware of.

Most wools end up bobbling at some point, mainly under the arms or on the cuffs. If it is a Cashmere, Lamb’s or just a very soft fine wool, you may find that it will bobble more than a general woollen coat or jumper.

What causes our garments to bobble?

Bobbles are formed from short or broken fibres on the surface of your jumper. As these loose fibres rub together – through normal wear or during the washing and drying process – they become tangled together in a tiny knot or bobble.

Once a bobble has formed, it becomes a magnet for other loose threads.

Does dry cleaning remove my bobble on my coat or my jumper?

Unfortunately, dry cleaning alone will not remove the bobble. We will need to remove them after the cleaning has been done. Using our DE-BOBBLING service in no way causes any damage to the garments.

If you would like to know more about this service, or anything else for that matter concerning your lovely clothes, please do not hesitate to pop into one of our stores at 143 Milton road in Cambridge and 1 Anstey Way in Trumpington, or alternatively gives us a call on 01223 755180 for our Cambridge Branch and 01223 625310 for our Trumpington Branch and we would love to advise the best treatment for your garments.
