Chasing Dreams in the City of Couture: A Parisian Adventure with Vicki

Last week was an unforgettable experience in Paris with Vicki by my side.

We embarked on a two-day adventure through the fashion capital of the world, immersing ourselves in its vibrant culture and style.

Our journey began at "Blanc Couture", a charming wedding boutique nestled in the heart of the 10th arrondissement.

Stepping into this elegant establishment, we were greeted by the latest trends in bridal fashion. The most sought-after design? The "sirène" or mermaid-style wedding dress, which captivated us with its timeless allure. As we explored the array of styles, reminiscent of those we encounter back in Cambridge, we were guided by the friendly expertise of the shop's advisors, ensuring we didn't miss a single detail.

  • "Votre Pressing Les Blanchisseuses"

Our next stop led us to "Votre Pressing Les Blanchisseuses" in the 9th arrondissement, where we had the pleasure of meeting Sakena, a knowledgeable artisan of the dry cleaning craft. With passion and precision, she revealed the process behind garment restoration, from delicate fabrics to luxurious leathers. It was reassuring to discover parallels between the practices in France and the UK, underscoring the universality of our industry.

  • Paris's Fabric Shops

Having lived in Paris for five years prior coming to Cambridge, I couldn't resist revisiting one of my favourite pastimes: exploring the city's fabric shops.

Vicki and I found ourselves mesmerized by the collection of textures and colours, each piece of fabric telling its own story. Reluctantly tearing ourselves away, I knew the best was yet to come.

To Vicki's delight, I surprised her with a visit to the Galerie Dior , a haven for fashion enthusiasts like ourselves. Stepping into this opulent space, we were enraptured by the enchanting narrative of Dior's creative evolution. From iconic garments to exquisite handbags, every piece exuded a sense of timeless elegance. The gallery's presentation was nothing short of spectacular, with colourful Dior mini dresses adorning the charming staircase and the allure of the Dior Café beckoning us to linger a little longer.

“Fashion designers offer the one of the last refuges of the marvellous. They are, in a way, the masters of dreams…”. Christian Dior

Our trip to Paris was over too soon, but we left with lots of great memories and a new appreciation for the city's fashion scene. We were inspired to bring a bit of Parisian style back with us to Cambridge. 🥰🥰
